Hello, and welcome to my home away from home.

I’m sure, by my photo, you can tell that I am a no-nonsense kind of guy - not really. In fact, I would be nonsensical all the time if I thought I could get away with it. Fortunately, I have far too many chains that do well at keeping me restrained.

Once I was asked why I write fantasy; do I really believe in magic, wizardry, and the like. My answer was a simple one. No, of course I don’t believe in the things I write. Frankly, if I did, I most likely wouldn’t be writing about them. I don’t want to write about real things. People have reality going on all around them every moment of every day, unless they take the occasion to slip away into a fantasy world by way of reading, viewing TV or a movie.

I write so that I can provide my readers with a little time to escape the realities of life. It’s far better than using drugs or alcohol, and safer too. At least, no matter how hard a book is to put down, like drugs and alcohol, eventually you read to the end and it’s over--unlike drugs and alcohol. And the experience is fun and exciting. Don’t you think?

How I came to write The Dylarian Chronicles.

Though I have been interested in writing and have dabbled in the field since my youth, I had never written anything or even had the idea for a story that I considered publishable until about the year 2000. It was while working with a very close friend, helping him develop the storyline for a novel he was going to write that I began to develop a storyline of my own. At that time, I thought the story would be called "The Isle of Dylar".

The story centered around two main characters. The good guy’s name was Antis and the bad guy’s name was Karryn. As the story began to take shape it soon became clear that what I had before me was little more than a maze of confusion. I came to realize that the story could not be told with any hope of clarity between the covers of a single book. So I decided to tell the story of Antis in one book and the story of Karryn in a second book.

It was back to the development stage all over again. Soon what emerged was "Mage of Dylar", which told the story of Antis while developing the background and setting the stage for its prequel (which turned out to be the first in the series) called "The Tale of Karryn".

Thus The Dylarian Chronicles was born. By the time I finally got the time and the nerve to begin the actual writing of "Mage of Dylar" it was late in the year of 2002. Around January or February of 2004, while the book was still going through the dreaded editing and rewrite stage, I began work on "The Tale of Karryn". I finally finished the two book series around November of 2005 and set "The Tale of Karryn" into its editing/rewrite stage.

While this was going on, I went through about a year of writing short stories while developing my third novel. I have presently finished the first 6 chapters of "The Crystal Serpent - Child of Promise".
